Originally discovered in Aichi prefectures kihoku city by Shigemi Kageura in 1989, and was submitted for identification registration in June, 2010. It is yuzu type with almost no thorns. It was officially recognized in March 2013.

It is currently being cultivated now in Aichi Prefecture.

You trees usually have lots of thorns, making harvesting difficult. The thorns lower efficiency and productivity often damaging the yuzu itself. This lowers overall quantities available for sales and has always been considered a hindrance.

Kihoku no Kaori has high expectations from drawers because this new species has very few songs on it’s trees.
